Modern Apprenticeships
The Modern Apprenticeship programme offers people aged 16 to 19 the opportunity to earn while they learn, as they work towards a recognised qualification, skilled employment and greater career prospects. ACT offers individuals the chance to gain skills and qualifications in hairdressing, whether they are coming straight from school or further education or already in employment. Funding for a Modern Apprenticeship programme is made available from Skills Development Scotland. ILA funding
ILA Scotland is a Scottish Government scheme that helps pay for learning that suits the learner. Aimed at anyone over 16 living in Scotland with an income of no more than £22,000, or who are on benefits, it provides £200 towards the cost of learning with a learner account from ILA Scotland. Get Ready for Work
ACT has teamed up with West Lothian Council to deliver on the Get Ready for Work programme. The programme is designed as a gateway into work for young people aged between 16 and 19 who have still to find a proper career, and although there is no obligation on participating salons to offer students a permanent job, grants are available for those that do. Trainees receive a £55 training allowance, plus expenses, for the 12 weeks of training. To find out more, click here.
