The Modern Apprenticeship programme offers people aged 16 to 19 the opportunity to earn while they learn, as they work towards a recognised qualification, skilled employment and greater career prospects. ACT offers individuals the chance to gain skills and qualifications in hairdressing, whether they are coming straight from school or further education or already in employment. Funding for a Modern Apprenticeship programme is made available from Skills Development Scotland. For further information on funding a Modern Apprenticeship please contact ACT on 0131 337 4393, or click here.
Get Ready for Work
The programme is designed as a gateway into work for young people aged between 16 and 19 who have still to find a proper career, and although there is no obligation on participating salons to offer students a permanent job, grants are available for those that do. Trainees receive a £55 training allowance, plus expenses, for the 12 weeks of training. To find out more, click here.
SDS Individual Learning Accounts (ILAs) are for people who are 16 or over and living in Scotland. You must have an income of £22,000 a year or less, or be on benefits to be eligible to get up to £200 towards the costs of learning or training.
Most of ACT’s courses attract this funding. Information regarding how to apply for an ILA can be found at: www.myworldofwork.co.uk/section/funding
