Top Scottish training provider Ambition Centre for Training (ACT) and Paisley salon McCallum are celebrating after one of ACT’s best ever trainees, McCallum’s Lyndsay Speirs, was named Achiever of the Year in the National Training Awards.
ACT nominated Lyndsay for her dedication to education after she completed her SVQ Level 3 within eight months, using her entry into L’Oréal’s Talentspotting competition as her evidence. Lyndsay went on to win Talentspotting a year later and made it through to the L’Oréal Colour Trophy regional final, finishing in the top ten. She has also spent two years on the L’Oréal ID Team. She has since become a trainer and salon manager within McCallum.
“We are delighted for Lyndsay,” said McCallum owner Fiona Sandieson. “She began with me the day I opened the salon and she has developed into a superb hairdresser. Working together with ACT has been a great experience.”
“It is fantastic to see the rewards for the effort our team makes to provide the best education,” said Isabel McKeown, director of ACT along with Lynda McGivern. “But it is also down to the superb companies like McCallum, where Lyndsay works, and with whom we collaborate, and their dedication to developing their people.”
