“Improvement through People” is the central philosophy behind Investors in People for the 20 years it has been supporting organisations and businesses throughout the UK. Approximately 33% of the UK workforce now works for Investors in People accredited organisation. But less than 2% of these Investors in People organisations hold the award at the coveted Gold level. Scottish hairdressing training provider Ambition Centre for Training (ACT) has been welcomed into this select band. The outcome of the Gold level award is a clear example of getting out what you put in; ACT are encouraged and supported and this in turn reflects on the service they give to the hairdressing salons and trainees they support.
John Hutchison, from Investors in People commented, “ What came across so strongly when speaking to everybody at ACT was the passion they hold for what they do and achieve. The way that ACT builds self-belief in their workforce and those they train is simply outstanding.”
ACT’s training gives young people a real structure to advance to senior levels in what is a very creative industry. Their focus on the life skills aligned with the technical aspects of the profession is equally important and encouraged. Directors, Lynda McGivern and Isabel McKeown, are not only building a great business, they are building and nurturing the self-esteem and confidence of their workforces and those they train.
